EME
Systems has been in business since 1985. Our facility is located in
the university town of Berkeley California, across the bay from San
Francisco. Our 1200 square foot space is equipped as a complete
electronics development lab and model machine shop. We take pride in
participating in the green business program of the Berkeley
community.

Company founder, Thomas Tracy Allen (pictured on assignment in
Washington State in the photo below), received a B.S. in Engineering
Physics, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics, both from the University of
California at Berkeley. His own research was in bumblebee behavior in
relation to the colony's energy needs, and in mathematical modeling.
He started EME Systems as a natural adjunct to helping researchers in
the biological sciences and in agriculture with instrumentation to
gather data in the laboratory and in the field. EME Systems is a
family owned and operated business.

Here Gian Allen is working on a hardware programming hardware project
at the Mac G4 Cube workstation. Gian received a Bachelor of Science
degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and Chemistry from U.C. Berkeley
in 2000.
We run both the MacOS and Windows under Virtual PC on this setup.

EME System's products have evolved over the course of the years. We
started out using the Tandy Model 102 as the intelligence for a data
logger. Later on, we settled on the Basic Stamp II to provide the
intelligence. This choice was based primarily on the high reliability
of the Stamp, its single-tasking RISC architecture, and also its high
level of acceptance in the industry and its long term prospects for
availability.
We strive to provide our customers with exactly what they need to get the job done. Our products are very high in quality and reliability. Nonetheless, they leave off extraneous bells and whistles, so they are very competitive in price. And we give great service, as we speak the languages of both technology and environmental science.
